HOWTO: Upgrade your FlexRAID installation to a new release

Upgrading your FlexRAID installation to a new release requires the following steps:

  1. Stop the storage pool if any
  2. Stop the FlexRAID service (Windows) or process (Linux)
  3. Uninstall FlexRAID using the uninstall menu (Windows) or executable (Linux)
  4. Delete the installation folder (not needed but good habit)
  5. Reboot your system
  6. Install the new release
  7. If Windows and using the storage pooling feature, you might need to reboot if prompted to do so after trying to start the pool
  8. Enjoy

Will this also work from the lates public rc to final version?
How will flexraid get the same disk configuration if the old version is uninstalled and the installationfolder is deleted?

    Thanks!

The configuration is kept on the C: drive, and would not be deleted by the uninstall. I’m guessing the new installation sees any configurations you had before by looking for those.

If you follow (or plan to follow) these instructions, make sure you aren’t storing your license key in the install folder or else you’ll be deleting it during step 4.

I’m trying to uninstall my current version (2.0u11 final) to install the latest version, but it won’t let me uninstall. I keep getting this error https://cdn.mediacru.sh/giDJFsjfTDKx.png. Please help.

Is this still the proper procedure for upgrades? I am running 2.0u11 final and wish to upgrade the machine to Windows 10.
