Not enough server storage is available to process this command

I’m not sure that this has anything to do for sure with FlexRaid, but its happened on both servers I have running FlexRaid, and I’ve never seen it anywhere else. So I’ll post this to help anyone else who might have the same issue.

While transferring a large number of files to the flex raid view disk, occasionally i would get a windows error:

“Not enough server storage is available to process this command”

and I couldn’t transfer any additional files to server without rebooting.

Fortunately, the fix is quite easy.

See if the following registry file exists:

IRPStackSize DWORD 0x0000000f (15)

Check for the presence of the value named IRPStackSize. If it doesn’t exist, create it as type DWORD and make sure you have the capitalization absolutely correct (5 upper case, 7 lower case characters), because the system strangely seems to depend on that. Make sure also that you haven’t by mistake added a leading or trailing space as described in this comment below.
With base set to decimal, enter the value 16 or higher. Maximum number is 50, which I’ve set it too and seen no performance degradation.
