How to enable more verbose logging?

To enable more verbose logging, you will need to edit the logging.options.txt file in your installation directory and change the lines below:

To change high level FlexRAID service logs (logged in FlexRAID.log)
Change FLEXRAID_LOG_LEVEL=INFO to FLEXRAID_LOG_LEVEL=TRACE
Those contain for example the FlexRAID startup & scheduler logs, RAID operations logs, etc.):

To change lower level FlexRAID logs (in FlexRAID.sys.c1-1.log)
Change FLEXRAID_SYS_LOG_LEVEL=INFO to FLEXRAID_SYS_LOG_LEVEL=TRACE
Those contain, for example, logs from the Storage Pool and file operations.

Notes:

  • Valid log levels: NONE, ERROR, WARN, INFO (default value), TRACE (less verbose to more verbose)
  • You can also change the location of the logs in that same file (system root by default)
  • FlexRAID automatically splits the logs when the file gets too big. When you enable verbose logging, you will need to watch the folder where logs are located to do some cleanup
  • Read more about log4j at http://logging.apache.org/log4j/1.2/manual.html

Does this require a restart of the flexraid service?
